I had no intentions of building or buying. It was one of those ... all the stars aligned and next thing we knew, we were beginning this journey.
We've been in our current rental for almost 3 years. We like it, but we don't love it. The time came to decide if we were going to buy this or move into another temporary home. My family ultimately chose we'd stay in the Greater DC area until they finished school. So, buying it is.
The market where we currently live is odd.
All of NOVA is.
It's overpriced, no land, and ... odd.
We started looking in areas where my oldest would stay in the desired high school, which meant a limited number of homes available. After a few days of seeing existing homes, we stumbled upon the Ryan Homes location.
It was kismet.
Two days later, we put the downpayment down, signed papers, and took the last lot available. Boom. Done. I bought a house in a day.
Then came the WHAT THE HELL did we just do moment? After touring two other Ryan Homes locations, we decided on what the model was there, The Normandy. This seems to be a fairly new model, which is why I ultimately decided to blog about it. I've scoured the interwebs for some information on this, and came up with zilch.
If you're building a Normandy, hopefully this helps. And hopefully it helps me because I'm losing my mind a little.
